Thirst That Is Truly Satisfied

Image
Thirst That Is Truly Satisfied John 4:23-30 [23]But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. [24]For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” [25]The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” [26]Then Jesus told her, “i am the Messiah!” [27]Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, “What do you want with her?” or “Why are you talking to her?” [28]The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, [29]“Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” [30]So the people came streaming from the village to see him. Proverbs 14:27-28 [27]Fear of the lord is a life-giving fountain; ...

Unshakable Integrity

Unshakable Integrity: Living Where God Dwells Psalms 15:1-5 [1]Who may worship in your sanctuary, lord?      Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? [2]Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,      speaking the truth from sincere hearts. [3]Those who refuse to gossip      or harm their neighbors      or speak evil of their friends. [4]Those who despise flagrant sinners,      and honor the faithful followers of the lord,      and keep their promises even when it hurts. [5]Those who lend money without charging interest,      and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.  Such people will stand firm forever. Deuteronomy 24:17-22 [17]“True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans, and you must never accept a widow’s garment as security for her debt. [18]Always remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the lord your God redeem...

The Light Refused, The Spirit Received

Image
The Light Refused, The Spirit Received John 1:6–11 God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. John 4:23–24 "But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth." Recognizing the Light The opening of John’s Gospel introduces a tragic irony: the Creator of the world entered His own creation, yet many "did not know Him" and "did not receive Him." Imagine coming home one day and...

Fearless Living Through Divine Presence

Image
Fearless Living Through Divine Presence Psalm 118:4–7 Let all who fear the Lord repeat: “His faithful love endures forever.” In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me; He will help me. I will look in triumph over those who come against me. John 14:23–26 Jesus replied, “All who love Me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and We will come and make Our home with each of them. Anyone who does not love Me will not obey Me. And remember, My words are not My own; what I am telling you is from the Father who sent Me. But when the Father sends the Advocate—the Holy Spirit—He will teach you everything and remind you of all I have told you.” Fear shows up in many forms. Sometimes it comes loudly through conflict, rejection, or uncertainty. Other times it arrives quietly—through anxiety, self-doubt, or the weight of carrying pain that no one else se...

A Heart That Seeks Wisdom

Image
A Heart That Seeks Wisdom  Mark 3:1-6 Jesus went into the synagogue again and noticed a man with a deformed hand. Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus’ enemies watched him closely. If he healed the man’s hand, they planned to accuse him of working on the Sabbath. Jesus said to the man with the deformed hand, “Come and stand in front of everyone.” Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him. He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored! At once the Pharisees went away and met with the supporters of Herod to plot how to kill Jesus. Mark 3:1-6 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone...

Sing a New Song

Sing a New Song — The King Reigns Psalms 96:1-13 [1] Sing a new song to the lord!      Let the whole earth sing to the lord! [2] Sing to the lord; praise his name.      Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. [3] Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.      Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. [4] Great is the lord! He is most worthy of praise!      He is to be feared above all gods. [5] The gods of other nations are mere idols,      but the lord made the heavens! [6] Honor and majesty surround him;      strength and beauty fill his sanctuary. [7] O nations of the world, recognize the lord;      recognize that the lord is glorious and strong. [8] Give to the lord the glory he deserves!      Bring your offering and come into his courts. [9] Worship the lord in all his holy splendor.      Let all the earth tremble before ...
