Unshakable Integrity

Unshakable Integrity: Living Where God Dwells

Psalms 15:1-5

[1]Who may worship in your sanctuary, lord?

Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?

[2]Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,

speaking the truth from sincere hearts.

[3]Those who refuse to gossip

    or harm their neighbors

or speak evil of their friends.

[4]Those who despise flagrant sinners,

and honor the faithful followers of the lord,

and keep their promises even when it hurts.

[5]Those who lend money without charging interest,

and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.

Such people will stand firm forever.

Deuteronomy 24:17-22

[17]“True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans, and you must never accept a widow’s garment as security for her debt.

[18]Always remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the lord your God redeemed you from your slavery. That is why I have given you this command.

[19]“When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don’t go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. Then the lord your God will bless you in all you do.

[20]When you beat the olives from your olive trees, don’t go over the boughs twice. Leave the remaining olives for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.

[21]When you gather the grapes in your vineyard, don’t glean the vines after they are picked. Leave the remaining grapes for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.

[22]Remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt. That is why I am giving you this command.

1 Timothy 5:24-25

[24]Remember, the sins of some people are obvious, leading them to certain judgment. But there are others whose sins will not be revealed until later.

[25]In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. And the good deeds done in secret will someday come to light.

Psalm 15:1–5 asks a piercing question:

“Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy hill?”

The answer is not about religious performance or outward perfection. Instead, it paints a picture of integrity—a life aligned with God’s heart. Those who dwell in His presence are people who live blamelessly, speak truth from sincere hearts, refuse gossip, honor the faithful, and keep their word even when it costs them. These are not flashy virtues, but they are unshakable ones.

Integrity is never meant to stay hidden inside us. Deuteronomy 24:17–22 moves integrity into everyday action. God commands His people to protect the foreigner, the orphan, and the widow—to intentionally leave part of their harvest behind for those who cannot repay them. This generosity is rooted in remembrance: “Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you.”

Our mercy toward others flows from God’s mercy toward us. True holiness always includes justice, compassion, and dignity for the vulnerable.

Still, living this way can feel frustrating. We often see dishonesty rewarded and kindness ignored. This is where 1 Timothy 5:24–25 anchors our hearts. Paul reminds us that some sins are obvious, while others trail behind—but none stay hidden forever. The same is true of good deeds. Quiet faithfulness, unseen generosity, and integrity practiced in secret will one day come fully into the light. God is the Great Equalizer. He sees not only what is done, but why it is done.

Psalm 15 closes with a promise:

“Whoever does these things will never be shaken.”

A life built on integrity—trusting God with our reputation, resources, and future—stands firm no matter what the world rewards or ignores.

A Moral Story

There was once a builder who constructed two homes side by side. One used the finest materials but skipped proper foundations to save time and money. The other builder worked slowly, laying deep footings no one would ever see. When storms came, the beautiful house collapsed, while the quiet, well-founded one stood firm.

Integrity is like that unseen foundation. The world may not notice it at first—but storms always reveal what truly holds.

For Today

Remember the good deeds done in secret will someday come to light!  Just like sins, nothing goes unnoticed by our Triune God.

Living in God’s presence isn’t just about a Sunday experience. It’s about a Monday-through-Saturday character—what we say when no one is listening, how we treat those who can’t help us back, and whether we keep our word when it hurts.

Check Your Tongue: Does your speech reflect truth and grace, or does it drift into gossip and harm?

Keep Your Word: Is there a promise you’ve made that has become costly to keep? Integrity follows through anyway.

Act with Justice: Who are the “foreigners, orphans, or widows” in your life—the overlooked or vulnerable? How can you help practically?

Trust the Final Judge: When kindness goes unnoticed or unfairness seems to win, remember—nothing good or bad stays hidden from God.  Amen!

Lord, thank You for welcoming us into Your presence. I confess that I often fall short of the integrity You desire. Cleanse my heart, guard my words, and help me act justly and love mercy—even when it costs me something. When I am tempted to take shortcuts or feel discouraged by unfairness, remind me that You see all things. May my life reflect Your character and be built on a foundation that will never be shaken. In Jesus’  precious name we pray, Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever. Amen.
