The Invitation: What Do You Desire?

​"At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, 'Ask what I shall give you.'"

​Imagine God extending that same open-ended invitation to you today: "What do you want?"

​In moments of transition or uncertainty, our natural instinct is often to pray for a swift exit from trouble, financial relief, or immediate comfort. Yet, when God handed Solomon a blank check, the young king bypassed superficial desires and asked for an understanding heart to discern well. The foundation of an unshakable life begins with what we value most. When we stop asking God to align with our plans and start asking Him how to align with His, our entire spiritual trajectory changes.

​The Blueprint: Seeking True Wisdom

​"For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."

— Proverbs 2:6

​"Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm."

— Proverbs 13:20

​True wisdom is not a human achievement; it is a divine endowment. God does not ration His insight—it flows directly from His mouth to those who lean in to listen. However, the wisdom God grants must also be protected by the company we keep. You cannot cultivate a divine mindset while remaining anchored to foolish influences. Walking with the wise means intentionally curating your environment—your friendships, the media you consume, and the mentors you pursue. Wisdom is caught as much as it is taught.

​Wisdom tells you what path to take, but faith gives you the courage to walk it when the outcome is entirely invisible. Faith is not passive wishful thinking; it is a firm stance. When you operate by divine wisdom, you will often find yourself stepping out into territory that makes no sense to the world. It is faith that bridges the gap between God's command and His provision.

​"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

​Even the wisest, most faith-filled life will encounter severe storms. When an unexpected crisis hits, God does not view your trouble from a safe distance. He is your immediate refuge. He does not simply send you strength—He is your strength. An "ever-present help" means that when you feel completely overwhelmed, you never have to search for Him. He is already there, occupying the crisis right alongside you.

​The Masterpiece: Purpose in the Pain

​"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

​This is the ultimate promise of a life built on God. When you seek His wisdom, walk in His counsel, anchor your faith, and hide in His refuge, a profound shift occurs: your perspective transforms. You begin to understand that nothing in your life is ever wasted. God takes the fragments of your struggles, the consequences of past foolishness, and the pain of unexpected trials, weaving them together. He does not say every individual event is good, but He guarantees that the final tapestry will serve a glorious purpose.

• ​Audit Your Circle: Look closely at your closest relationships (Proverbs 13:20). Are they pushing you toward divine wisdom, or pulling you toward compromise?
• ​Shift Your Prayers: The next time you face a tough decision, stop praying only for a specific outcome. Instead, mimic Solomon and pray: "Lord, give me an understanding heart to discern well."
• ​Release the Unseen: Identify one area of your life where you are demanding immediate visibility. Consciously surrender it to God today, choosing trust over certainty (Hebrews 11:1).

​Heavenly Father,

​Thank You for the incredible invitation to come to You just as we are. Today, we don't just ask for easy roads or quick fixes—we ask for an understanding heart. Grant us the divine wisdom to navigate our daily choices and the discernment to surround ourselves with people who sharpen our faith.

​When the storms of life hit and the future looks invisible, anchor our hearts in Your word. Remind us that You are our immediate refuge and strength. Thank You for taking every fragment, trial, and piece of our lives and weaving them together for our good and Your glory. We surrender our plans to Yours today.
