THE GOD WHO HOLDS THE MOUNTAINS HOLDS YOU

Devotional

Life has a way of changing without warning. One phone call can alter everything. A doctor's report, an unexpected bill, a broken relationship, a house fire, a job loss, or simply the weight of carrying burdens day after day can leave us wondering how we will make it through tomorrow.

I've lived enough years to know that life doesn't always make sense. There have been seasons when Ross and I wondered how we would pay the bills, keep the lights on, feed our animals, or simply make it through another difficult day. There have been nights when fear whispered louder than faith and mornings when I had to intentionally choose to trust God before my feet even touched the floor. This month even with a little help from friends we still struggled with food. Having no way to keep things cold consistently as all we are using is a cooler is tough.

Yesterday I counted out our last pennies and went to the store with $2.50 and found 6 pork chops for 2.44 sorry you can not convince me that God is not watching out for us! Today we got paid a day early. All in His plan!

See every single time, God has remained exactly who He has always been—faithful.

Amos reminds us to lift our eyes from our circumstances to our Creator. The Lord who shaped the mountains, commands the winds, and walks upon the highest places of the earth is the very same God who knows your name, hears your prayers, counts your tears, and holds your future. Nothing that surprises us has ever surprised Him.

Sometimes we become so consumed by the size of our problems that we forget the immeasurable greatness of our God. Mountains may look impossible to climb, but remember—our God made the mountains. Storms may seem overwhelming, but He commands the winds. If He holds the universe together, surely He is able to hold your life together.

Isaiah gives us a truth that goes completely against our human nature. When life becomes chaotic, our instinct is to work harder, worry more, and try to control every possible outcome. God says something entirely different:

"In returning and rest you shall be saved. In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."

The world tells us to hurry.

God tells us to be still.

The world says, "Figure it out."

God says, "Trust Me."

The world says, "Carry it all yourself."

God says, "Cast your cares upon Me."

What a wonderful invitation! We don't have to exhaust ourselves trying to be our own savior. We simply return to Him again and again. Every morning is another opportunity to begin anew.

That is exactly what Jeremiah discovered while standing in the ruins of Jerusalem. In the middle of unimaginable devastation, he declared one of the greatest promises in Scripture:

"Great is Thy faithfulness. His mercies are new every morning."

Think about that.

God doesn't ration His mercy.

He doesn't run out of grace.

He doesn't become weary of forgiving us.

Each sunrise is God's reminder that yesterday does not define today. Every dawn arrives carrying fresh mercy, fresh strength, fresh hope, and fresh opportunities to trust Him again.

When we truly understand that kind of faithfulness, something changes inside us. Our joy no longer depends on our circumstances. Psalm 33 reminds us that blessed are the people whose God is the Lord. Happiness built on possessions or comfort fades quickly, but joy rooted in Christ remains steady through every season.

That is why Paul could write in Romans 8:37 that we are more than conquerors.

The Greek word is Hypernikōmen.

It combines hyper ("above," "beyond," "surpassing") with nikaō ("to conquer" or "to overcome"). Paul wasn't describing someone who barely survives life's battles. He was describing believers who experience overwhelming victory through Christ.

A conqueror wins.

A hyper-conqueror grows stronger because of the battle.

The enemy intends suffering to destroy our faith, but Jesus uses suffering to deepen it. Trials become testimonies. Tears become compassion. Weakness becomes dependence on God's strength. What Satan meant for evil, God transforms into something beautiful for His glory.

Looking back over my own life, I realize that the hardest chapters have also revealed God's greatest faithfulness. The valleys taught me to pray. The losses taught me gratitude. The impossible situations taught me that God truly is enough.

I would never have chosen many of those painful roads, but I would never trade what I learned about Jesus while walking them.

Finally, Jesus reminds us that His blessings were never meant to stop with us. We are the light of the world. A light doesn't shine for itself—it shines so others can find their way.

People are watching.

They watch how we respond to disappointment.

They watch how we endure hardship.

They watch how we treat others when life is unfair.

Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every prayer offered in faith becomes another ray of God's light piercing someone's darkness.

Today, don't focus on the size of your mountain. Focus on the One who created it.

Rest instead of striving.

Trust instead of fearing.

Shine instead of hiding.

The God who holds the mountains is holding you, too.

And because He is holding you, you already have the victory.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the God who formed the mountains yet lovingly holds each one of us in Your hands. Thank You for Your faithfulness that never fails and for the new mercies You give us every single morning.

Forgive us for the times we allow fear to become louder than our faith. Teach us to stop striving and to find true rest in Your presence. Help us to remember that no problem is bigger than You and no valley is deeper than Your love.

Strengthen us to live as hyper-conquerors—not merely surviving life's battles, but allowing every trial to draw us closer to Jesus. Let our lives shine brightly so that others will see Your goodness, Your grace, and Your glory.

May we trust You more today than we did yesterday and love others with the same love You have shown us.
