God’s Unshakable Heart

 God's Unshakable Heart

Psalm 145:8-9

“The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.”

Hosea 2:16

“When that day comes,” says the Lord, “you will call me ‘my husband’ instead of ‘my master.’”

Psalm 37:5

“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.”

Lamentations 5:19

“But Lord, you remain the same forever! Your throne continues from generation to generation.”

God's Unshakable Heart

Life rarely stands still. Seasons change. Children grow up. Loved ones move away or pass into eternity. Churches experience change. Pastors come and go. Our health changes. Our finances rise and fall. Even our nation continues to change as each generation leaves its own mark.

Sometimes it feels like we are trying to stand on shifting sand.

Yet God's Word reminds us that while everything around us changes, God never does.

Psalm 145 paints one of the most beautiful pictures of God's heart. He is not waiting for us to fail. He is not easily angered. He is merciful, compassionate, and overflowing with unfailing love.

The Hebrew word for compassion is racham (רַחַם). It carries the picture of a parent's deep, tender love for a child—a love that protects, comforts, and refuses to abandon. God's compassion is not simply pity. It is a love that moves Him to act on behalf of His children.

The Hebrew word for unfailing love is chesed (חֶסֶד). This beautiful word describes God's covenant love—faithful, loyal, steadfast, and never-ending. It is love that remains even when we stumble. It is love that keeps pursuing us because God keeps His promises.

Then we come to Hosea.

God says that one day His people will no longer call Him "Master," but "My Husband."

This is an amazing picture of intimacy.

The Hebrew word ish (אִישׁ) means husband or beloved. God was inviting His people into a relationship built on love rather than fear, trust rather than obligation, and covenant rather than mere religion.

The New Testament echoes this truth with the Greek word agapē (ἀγάπη), God's unconditional, sacrificial love. Agapē is not based on our performance. It is based on God's perfect character. He loved us before we loved Him.

Because of that love, Psalm 37 tells us to commit everything to the Lord.

The Hebrew word galal (גָּלַל) literally means "to roll." Imagine taking a heavy boulder off your shoulders and rolling it onto someone much stronger. God never asked us to carry tomorrow's worries. He invites us to roll every burden onto Him because His shoulders never grow weary.

Finally, Lamentations reminds us of one unchanging truth:

"Lord, You remain the same forever."

The Hebrew word olam (עוֹלָם) speaks of everlasting time—without beginning or end. While our lives are measured in years, God's reign stretches beyond all generations. His throne has never been shaken and never will be.

I am reminded of an old lighthouse standing on a rocky coast.

Storm after storm crashes against it. Fierce winds howl. Waves pound its foundation. Ships come and go. Generations of lighthouse keepers live and die. Yet year after year, the light continues to shine.

The lighthouse does not stop the storms.

It simply remains faithful, guiding every sailor safely home.

God is our Lighthouse.

The storms of life may continue. Bills may still arrive. Doctors may still give difficult reports. Our hearts may ache for loved ones. Our plans may change.

But our Lighthouse never moves.

His light never goes out.

His love never fails.

His compassion never runs dry.

His throne never shakes.

So today, instead of trying to control every circumstance, simply roll your burdens onto Jesus. Trust His heart even when you cannot trace His hand. Rest in His unchanging love, knowing that the same God who has carried His people through every generation is carrying you today.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the one constant in a world that is always changing. Thank You for Your mercy, Your compassion, and Your unfailing love that never leaves us. Help us to stop carrying burdens You never intended us to bear. Teach us to roll every worry, fear, disappointment, and uncertainty onto Your strong shoulders.

Draw us closer into the intimate relationship You desire with us. Help us know You not only as our Lord but as our loving Savior who delights in His children. Anchor our hearts in Your everlasting faithfulness. May we shine Your light to those around us, pointing them toward the hope that never fades.

Strengthen our faith today, deepen our trust, and remind us that Your throne stands forever.

In Jesus' precious name,

Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive our trespassers.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.

BELIEVE.

OBEY.

BE BLESSED.

AMEN.

Love, Penny 💛
