From Creation to Peace: A Journey Through His Presence

Life has a way of making us feel as though everything depends on us. We try to solve every problem, carry every burden, and understand every twist and turn of the road ahead. Yet God gently reminds us that the same Savior who created the universe is also the One who faithfully carries His children every single day.

John tells us that "through Him all things were made." Jesus was not simply present at creation—He was the Creator. Nothing exists apart from Him.

The Greek word ginomai (γίνομαι) means "to come into existence, to become, or to be brought into being." Everything that exists—from the towering mountains to the smallest flower, from the stars filling the night sky to every heartbeat within us—came into existence through Christ's creative power.

Think about that for a moment.

The One who designed galaxies without measure also knows every detail of your life. He knows your joys, your disappointments, your unanswered prayers, and the burdens you quietly carry. Nothing surprises Him because nothing exists outside His knowledge or His power.

If Jesus can create something out of nothing, He can certainly bring hope where you see despair, strength where you feel weak, and peace where your heart is troubled.

Ross and I have seen this truth lived out more times than we can count. There have been seasons when the future looked uncertain, when finances were tight, when health brought frightening diagnoses, and when we simply didn't know what tomorrow would hold. We have learned that God rarely shows us the entire road ahead. Instead, He faithfully gives us enough grace for today and enough light for the very next step. Looking back, we can see His fingerprints on every chapter of our lives, even the painful ones.

That is why Paul writes in Philippians,

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything."

What an incredible invitation! God never tells us to pretend life is easy. He simply tells us not to carry life's burdens alone.

Paul uses the Greek word phroureō (φρουρέω) when he says God's peace "will guard your hearts and minds." This word is a military term meaning "to stand guard, to garrison, or to protect like soldiers protecting a city."

Paul understood this picture well because he wrote these words while under Roman guard.

Imagine a city surrounded by soldiers standing watch at every gate. That is the picture God gives us of His peace. When we surrender our fears to Him, His peace stands guard over our hearts. Fear may knock at the door, but it does not have permission to move in unless we invite it.

What a comforting thought! We are not left to defend ourselves against anxiety. God's own peace becomes the watchman over our hearts.

That doesn't mean every problem instantly disappears. Ross and I still face challenges. There are still doctor's appointments, unexpected bills, moments of uncertainty, and days when answers seem slow in coming. But we have discovered something precious: peace is not found in having all the answers. Peace is found in knowing the One who already has them.

Finally, the psalmist calls us to gratitude:

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever."

The Hebrew word for this faithful love is hesed (חֶסֶד). It describes God's covenant love—steadfast, faithful, unwavering, and completely undeserved. It isn't based on how well we perform. It flows from who God is.

God's hesed has carried us through every season of our lives. It carried us through the joyful days and the heartbreaking ones. It carried us when our faith felt strong and when we were simply holding on by a thread. Looking back, we can honestly say that God's faithfulness has never failed us.

Perhaps today you are standing at the beginning of a difficult road. Maybe you're waiting for healing, praying for a loved one, struggling financially, or simply feeling overwhelmed.

Remember this:

The Creator who spoke the universe into existence is holding your life in His hands.

The Savior who guards your heart is standing watch over you even now.

The Father whose hesed never ends will never stop loving you.

You are not forgotten.

You are not alone.

You are held securely by the God who created you, redeemed you, and promises never to leave you.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the Creator of heaven and earth and the Author of my life. Thank You for knowing me completely and loving me perfectly. Forgive me for the times I carry worries instead of bringing them to You.

Today I choose to trust You. Guard my heart and my mind with Your perfect peace. Help me remember that You are already present in every tomorrow I fear. Thank You for Your unfailing hesed—Your faithful, covenant love that never changes and never lets go.

Strengthen my faith to rest in Your promises and to walk confidently wherever You lead, knowing You will provide all I need.

In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

The Lord's Prayer 

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive our trespassers.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
