Walking in Petfect Rhythm

Walking in Perfect Rhythm

Psalm 118:24 – "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

1 Peter 2:21 – "For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps."

Hebrews 13:8 – "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."

Ephesians 4:6 – "One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

Proverbs 23:24 – "The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him."

Every single morning brings a choice. When we open our eyes and remember Psalm 118:24, we remind ourselves that today is a deliberate creation of God. It is not an accident. It is not a mistake. It is a gift designed by our loving Creator. Yet true biblical joy is not based on perfect circumstances. It is anchored in a perfect and permanent Person.

Our world changes constantly, but Hebrews 13:8 promises that Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. His character does not fluctuate. His love does not diminish. His promises never fail. Because He is steady, our foundation is secure. We can face the unknowns of today because we know the One who holds tomorrow.

We humans can be so wishy-washy at times. Today we may want to serve God with all our hearts, but tomorrow, if He does not answer our prayers instantly or life becomes difficult, we may falter. Yet our Triune God remains rock steady. He is faithful when we are weak, patient when we are stubborn, and loving when we are fearful.

This unchanging Savior invites us into a specific way of living. First Peter 2:21 reminds us that our highest calling is to follow directly in His steps. Jesus modeled patience, sacrifice, humility, forgiveness, and radical love. When life becomes difficult or unfair, we look to His example. We do not have to figure out the path alone; we simply place our feet where His have already walked. His Holy Spirit, who lives within us, will guide our every step if we ask and then listen.

We are empowered to do this because we are never alone. Ephesians 4:6 reveals a Father who is above us in sovereignty, working through us in purpose, and living within us through His Spirit. Right now, we are completely surrounded by His presence.

When we choose to walk in obedience and righteousness, the impact reaches far beyond ourselves. Proverbs 23:24 reminds us of the joy a wise and faithful life brings to a father. Living God's way honors our earthly families, but even more importantly, it delights our Heavenly Father.

Trust His steady hand today. Step into His rhythm and let His joy become your strength.

Looking Deeper into the Original Languages

The original Hebrew and Greek words reveal a beautiful blueprint for daily faith.

1. The Divine Design of Today

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)

The Hebrew word for made is asah (עָשָׂה), meaning to fashion, build, or deliberately create. This day was not randomly set into motion. God intentionally fashioned today's hours, appointments, opportunities, and even challenges.

The Hebrew word for rejoice is giyl (גִּיל), which literally means to spin around or leap for joy. Rejoicing is not merely a feeling; it is an active choice to celebrate God's sovereignty before we know how the day will unfold.

2. Following the Exact Blueprint

"Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps." (1 Peter 2:21)

The Greek word for example is hupogrammos (ὑπογραμμός). In ancient times, it referred to a writing template placed beneath a student's work so they could trace the letters exactly.

Jesus did not merely give us teachings. He gave us a life to trace.

The word for steps is ichnos (ἴχνος), meaning footprints. We are called to place our feet where His footprints have already been left through sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and faithfulness.

3. The Anchor of Immutability

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

The Greek word autos (αὐτός) emphasizes absolute sameness and unchanging nature.

Jesus is not influenced by trends, public opinion, cultural shifts, or emotional moods. The same Savior who healed the brokenhearted, forgave sinners, and comforted the hurting during His earthly ministry still does so today and will continue forever.

When our emotions fluctuate, His character remains our anchor.

4. Surrounded by the Ultimate Source

"One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:6)

Paul uses three powerful descriptions:

Above all — God reigns with complete authority.

Through all — God actively works through circumstances and people.

In all — God dwells personally within His children through the Holy Spirit.

Nothing touches our lives without first passing through the loving hands of our Heavenly Father.

5. Producing Generational Delight

"The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him." (Proverbs 23:24)

The Hebrew word for delights is samach (שָׂמַח), meaning to brighten up, rejoice, or become glad.

When we faithfully follow Christ's example, our lives produce righteousness. Our obedience is not empty ritual; it brings joy to the heart of our Heavenly Father.

As we look at the remainder of this day, where might it be hardest to trace the example of Jesus? Is it patience with a difficult person? Kindness under stress? Humility when we want recognition?

What changing circumstance is causing anxiety right now? How does the unchanging nature of Jesus bring stability to that concern?

Let us remember that we are never alone. Our Triune God desires a personal relationship with every person on this earth—more than eight billion souls today and every generation yet to come. He patiently waits for us to recognize how deeply He loves us and how greatly He desires to walk beside us every day.

Amen.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this day You have intentionally created. Help us to rejoice in it regardless of our circumstances. Thank You that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. When our hearts are uncertain, remind us that You are unwavering.

Teach us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Give us ears to hear the guidance of Your Holy Spirit and hearts willing to obey. Help us to trust Your authority above us, Your work through us, and Your presence within us.

May our lives bring joy to You as we choose wisdom, righteousness, and faithfulness. Let our words, actions, and attitudes reflect the love of Christ to everyone we meet today.

In the precious name of Jesus we pray.

Amen.

The Lord's Prayer (KJV)

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who  trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.

BELIEVE, OBEY, BE BLESSED. AMEN.

I have decided to follow Jesus;

I have decided to follow Jesus;

I have decided to follow Jesus;

No turning back, no turning back.

2. Tho' none go with me, I still will follow,

Tho' none go with me I still will follow,

Tho' none go with me, I still will follow;

No turning back, no turning back.

3. My cross I'll carry, till I see Jesus;

My cross I'll carry till I see Jesus,

My cross I'll carry till I see Jesus;

No turning back, No turning back.

4. The world behind me, the cross before me,

The world behind me, the cross before me;

The world behind me, the cross before me;

No turning back, no turning back
