The Spirits Strength in the Morning

The Spirit’s Strength in the Morning

Scriptures (NLT)

Zechariah 4:6

“Then he said to me, ‘This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’”

Psalm 143:8

“Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.”

Lamentations 3:22–23

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3

“But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

Devotion: Strength That Isn’t Yours

Introduction: Beyond Human Effort

There is a quiet lie that meets many of us in the morning:

“You need to be strong enough for today.”

But God gently interrupts that thought.

You were never meant to run on your own strength.

You were meant to breathe in His.

The Power Source

“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit.”

The Hebrew word Ruach (רוּחַ) means breath, wind, life-force.

You don’t see the wind—but you see what it moves.

You don’t manufacture breath—you receive it.

In the same way, God’s Spirit is not something you produce—it is something you depend on.

When your strength feels small, remember:

you are being carried by the very breath of God.

The Morning Guidance

“Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning…”

God’s love—Chesed (חֶסֶד)—is not fragile or conditional.

It is covenant love. Loyal. Relentless. Unbreaking.

Each morning is not just a new day—it is a renewed promise.

You are not living off yesterday’s grace.

Today has its own fresh supply.

The Guarded Heart

“The Lord is faithful…”

The word Pistos (πιστός) means reliable, trustworthy, unchanging.

When everything around you feels uncertain, God does not shift.

He doesn’t just give strength—He becomes your defense.

He stands guard over your heart like a watchful protector.

The Daily Rhythm

“Rejoice always…”

The word Chairo (χαίρω) shares its root with Charis (Grace).

Joy is not rooted in circumstances—it is rooted in grace.

Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks are not burdens.

They are how we stay aligned with the Spirit.

It is how we keep breathing in the Ruach.

A Modern Story: The Woman and the Empty Tank

Maria sat in her car in the parking lot just before sunrise.

Her phone was full of notifications.

Her calendar was overwhelming.

Her body was tired before the day even began.

She gripped the steering wheel and whispered,

“I don’t have enough for today.”

Just then, her eyes drifted to the gas gauge.

Empty.

She sighed—of course.

But then something simple, quiet, and powerful crossed her mind:

“You wouldn’t expect your car to run without fuel…

so why do you expect yourself to?”

She leaned back and closed her eyes.

“Lord… I’ve been trying to run on empty.

Fill me.”

There was no thunder. No dramatic moment.

Just stillness.

A breath.

Peace.

She started the car—not just the engine, but her day—with a different understanding:

She didn’t need to be enough.

She just needed to stay filled.

And as the sun rose, so did something inside her—

not her strength…

…but His.

Yesterday we heard from our Bishop a story about his dad saying we will catch the next one, and how this put them in a position of an empty tank at night on a long highway.

Folks God is our source of Life, Light and Love.

If you let your tank run low and dont keep yourself filled with God....how can any of us move forward with nothing in out tank. I searched for years trying to figure out what was the correct mixture for my tank. Now that I know, I never want my personal tank empty ever again. God is everything abd everything we have is a gift from Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that I do not have to rely on my own strength.

When I feel empty, remind me that You are my source.

Fill me with Your Ruach—Your breath, Your life, Your Spirit.

Let Your Chesed love meet me fresh this morning.

Guard my heart, steady my mind, and guide my steps.

Teach me to rejoice, to pray, and to give thanks—not out of duty, but out of connection with You.

Today, I choose to rely on You.

Not by my might. Not by my power.

But by Your Spirit.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Amen.
