Reflection: The King is Enthroned

There are days when I look around at the chaos in the world, or even the struggles inside my own heart, and I wonder how everything will work out. Some seasons feel uncertain, exhausting, and far heavier than I can carry. But Mark 16:19 reminds me of a truth that changes everything: Jesus is still on the throne.

After completing His earthly ministry, Jesus ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. He did not sit down because He was tired. He sat down because the work of salvation was finished, victory was secured, and His authority is complete.

That means my life is not ruled by fear, bad news, financial struggles, sickness, heartbreak, or uncertainty. Jesus reigns above it all.

When I feel weak, overwhelmed, or unsure, I can remember that the throne of heaven is not empty. My Savior is seated there in perfect authority and perfect peace.

Because Jesus reigns, five beautiful truths can steady my heart today:

Impossible things become possible.

Sometimes I stare at situations that feel completely hopeless. I do not see a way forward. Yet God reminds me that His Word never fails. What looks impossible to me is still fully within His power.

The Greek word rhema (ῥῆμα) in Luke 1:37 points to a spoken word from God carrying divine power. If God has spoken a promise over my life, that promise is not empty. His Word contains the power needed to accomplish what He has declared.

My weakness is met with His strength.

I often try to appear strong when inside I feel exhausted and fragile. But Jesus never asks me to pretend. He invites me to bring Him my weakness.

The Greek word arkeo (ἀρκέω), translated “sufficient,” means more than simply “barely enough.” It carries the idea of protection, sustaining strength, and a defense against collapse. His grace is not weak or temporary. His grace actively holds me together when life feels too heavy.

My scarcity is answered by His abundance.

There are seasons when life feels dry emotionally, spiritually, financially, or physically. Yet Psalm 65 reminds me that God’s pathways overflow with abundance.

The Hebrew word ma'gal (מַעְגָּל) refers to a deeply worn path or track. God’s blessings are not random. His goodness is woven into the very path of obedience and trust He calls me to walk. Even difficult roads can overflow with His provision.

My exhaustion is met with divine strength.

I do not have to manufacture enough energy, courage, or endurance on my own. The Lord gives strength to His people. What I cannot produce in myself, He faithfully supplies through His Spirit.

My anxiety is calmed by His peace.

The peace Jesus gives is not dependent on circumstances improving overnight. His peace runs deeper than emotions.

The Hebrew word shalom (שָׁלוֹם) means wholeness, completeness, safety, and lasting well-being. Even when life feels unstable around me, His peace keeps my soul anchored and secure.

Jesus is not pacing the floors of heaven in worry over my future. He is sovereignly seated. The Greek word ekathisen (ἐκάθισεν) in Mark 16:19 points to a completed and final action. His victory is finished. His reign is secure.

Because He is seated, I can rest too.

“Lately, even our jeep has reminded me of this truth. For a while it felt like one problem after another, but yesterday God provided the needed parts. It is not fully put back together yet, but seeing those pieces arrive reminded me that God is still moving even before the final repair comes. Sometimes His provision arrives one step at a time, teaching me to trust Him in the middle of the process.”

Enthroned Lord Jesus,

Thank You for reminding me that You are still on the throne. Forgive me for the moments when I live as though everything depends on my own strength. Today I bring You my fears, my weakness, my uncertainty, and every impossible situation weighing on my heart.

Thank You that Your grace is more than enough for me. Strengthen me where I am weary. Provide for me where I feel empty. Lead me faithfully along the path You have prepared for my life. Fill my heart with Your deep and lasting peace.

Help me to trust that You are fully in control, even when I cannot see the outcome. Thank You that Your victory is complete and Your love for me never fails.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

BELIEVE, OBEY, BE BLESSED, AMEN!

Love, Penny 💛
