Strength for the Journey

Daily Devotion: April 23, 2026

Scripture Foundations (NLT)

1 Corinthians 15:21–22 (NLT)

“So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

Psalm 28:7 (NLT)

“The Lord is my strength and my shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.”

Proverbs 16:17 (NLT)

“The path of the virtuous leads away from evil; whoever follows that path is safe.”

Strength for the Journey

Life often feels like a series of paths we must navigate—some smooth, some steep, and some shadowed by fear. Today’s Scriptures offer more than encouragement—they give us a roadmap for walking forward with confidence, grounded in the victory of Christ.

1. The Foundation of Hope

Our journey begins with the reality of the resurrection. The Greek word anastasis means “a standing up again.” Because Jesus rose from the grave, death is no longer the end of the story. We are not wandering aimlessly—we are walking toward new life. Every step forward carries eternal purpose.

2. Power Over Fear

Fear may try to creep in when the road narrows, but God has already equipped you. The word dunamis speaks of explosive, miraculous power—the same power that raised Christ from the dead. This is not fragile strength; it is Spirit-filled boldness. Fear does not get the final say—God’s power does.

3. The Source of Strength

The Lord is not distant on your journey—He is your strength and your shield. The Hebrew word magen paints a picture of complete protection, covering every side. When you feel exposed or vulnerable, remember: you are surrounded by God’s presence. Your trust activates His covering.

4. Guarding the Path

We are also called to walk intentionally. The word shamar means to guard carefully, to watch over diligently. Staying on the right path requires daily choices—protecting your heart, your thoughts, and your actions. This is not restriction; it is preservation of the life God is building in you.

Reflection: A Testimony of Strength

Today, I reflect on how these truths became real in my own life.

Before I was old enough to go to school, I was placed in a situation that no child should ever endure. What began as something confusing quickly became something I knew was wrong. Fear tried to take hold of me, especially when threats were made against my family.

But something changed inside of me.

What I didn’t understand at the time was that God had already placed strength within me. The fear I felt began to give way to something stronger—a deep, unshakable knowing that this was wrong and that I did not have to accept it.

That strength grew into courage.

I began to resist. I fought back. I made it impossible for the abuse to continue quietly. What once felt like overwhelming fear was replaced with a fierce determination: This ends now.

Looking back, I can see it clearly—

that was God.

I didn’t have the words then, but I know now: it was a righteous, God-given strength rising up within me. And what happened next still amazes me—the very people who tried to control me became afraid, and they fled.

God was my anastasis—raising me up.

He was my dunamis—giving me power over fear.

He was my magen—protecting me.

He was teaching me to shamar—to guard my life.

What I didn’t understand then, I celebrate now:

God was with me all along.

Closing Reflection

Today, stand up (anastasis) in the power (dunamis) God has given you.

Trust Him as your shield (magen), and guard your path (shamar) with intention.

No matter what you face, you are not walking alone—and you are stronger than fear.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for the victory of the resurrection and for the strength You give us each day. Thank You for being present even in the moments when we didn’t yet understand You were there.

When fear rises, remind us of the power You have placed within us. Be our shield and our refuge. Help us walk the path You have set before us with courage, wisdom, and faith.

Let our lives shine as a light, drawing others toward Your love and truth—the only place where perfect peace is found.

In Jesus’ precious name,

Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer (KJV)

Our Father which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive our trespassers.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.

BOBBA

Be still and know that God is your strength.

Observe where fear tries to creep in.

Believe that God has already equipped you with power.

Become someone who walks boldly in truth.

Act by guarding your path and trusting Him fully.
