Redemption in the Moment

Redemption in the Moment

Ephesians 5:16

“Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.”

1 Timothy 2:5

“For there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.”

Romans 10:13

“For ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

Proverbs 12:19

“Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.”

John 20:16

“‘Mary!’ Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, ‘Rabbouni!’ (which is Hebrew for ‘Teacher’).”

In the rush of our daily lives, time can begin to feel like something that simply happens to us instead of something we intentionally steward. Yet Ephesians 5:16 calls us to “make the most of every opportunity.”

The Greek word used here for time is Kairos. Unlike chronos, which is the sequential ticking of the clock, Kairos is a God-appointed moment—a sacred window where eternity touches the ordinary. Every interruption, every conversation, every unexpected delay can become holy ground when we begin to see it through God’s eyes.

When we live with a Kairos mindset, we realize that every moment is an opportunity to speak truth that “stands the test of time” (Proverbs 12:19). Even the smallest acts of faithfulness can carry eternal weight.

But we cannot redeem our time—or our lives—on our own. We need a bridge.

1 Timothy 2:5 reveals Jesus as our Mesitēs, our Mediator. In ancient Greek, a mesitēs was a negotiator, an arbitrator, one who stood between two disconnected parties and brought them into covenant. Jesus, fully God and fully man, is the only One who can stand in the gap between our messy, evil days and God’s holy eternity.

This reconciliation is not found in ritual or performance. It begins with the cry of the heart. Romans 10:13 promises that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

That beautiful intimacy echoes in John 20:16, when the risen Christ simply says, “Mary.”

At the sound of her name, everything changed. She answered, “Rabbouni”—not merely Teacher, but my Teacher, my Master.

Today, Jesus still calls us by name in the middle of our chronos schedules, inviting us into Kairos moments.

And what does redeemed time look like?

It looks like love in motion.

If people who never step foot in church can cook meals for neighbors, give rides, plow a driveway, or mow a lawn, how much more should the people of God be known for reaching out?

Ross and I have visited several churches over the years, and each carried its own theme. Some made heaven seem nearly unreachable. Others focused so heavily on finances that ministry began to feel transactional instead of transformational. But now we have found a church that feels much closer to Biblical truth, because it understands that faith must move beyond the pew into the community.

We sponsor a Food Cupboard and support Bread of Life, bringing meals to the sick, injured, and their families during crisis—many of whom are not church attendees.

Our women’s group serves in missions.

Our pastor ministers in nursing homes.

We have a prayer chain that reaches beyond our church walls because community-wide prayer support is what we all need.

This is what redeemed time looks like.

This is Kairos lived out.

Love is action.

“For God so loved the world that He gave…”

Love gives. Love moves. Love serves.

A sinless, divine Savior came here to die for us. Such a beautiful sacrifice deserves a returned offering of our lives—being His hands and feet, carrying His love and kindness into the world.

Amen.

Reflection

Where is God inviting you today to turn an ordinary chronos moment into a sacred Kairos opportunity?

Who around you needs the love of Christ expressed not only in words, but in action?

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for redeeming not only our souls but even our moments. Open our eyes to the Kairos opportunities You place before us each day. Help us not to waste our time on fear, frustration, or selfish pursuits, but to use every moment for Your glory.

Lord Jesus, our Mesitēs, our perfect Mediator, thank You for bridging the gap between our brokenness and the Father’s holiness. Teach us to hear Your voice calling our names as Mary did, and may our hearts answer, Rabbouni.

Show us how to love in action. Make us willing to serve meals, speak truth, offer rides, pray faithfully, and be bridge-builders in our families, churches, and communities. Let our lives be a reflection of Your great sacrifice.

May we truly become Your hands and feet.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Amen.

BELIEVE, OBEY, BE BLESSED, AMEN.
