The Power and Authority of His Name
The Power and Authority of His Name
John 14:13–14 (NLT)
“You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.
Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”
Philippians 2:9–11 (NLT)
“Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Acts 4:10–12 (NLT)
“Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.
For Jesus the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.
For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
— Acts 4:11–12 (NLT)
Romans 10:13 (NLT)
“For ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
Significance of Speaking His Name
Authority & Deliverance:
The name of Jesus carries authority over spiritual forces (Acts 16:18; Luke 10:17). When His name is spoken in faith, darkness must respond. Fear trembles. Bondage loosens. Not because of us—but because of Him.
Salvation & Access:
His name represents His identity—Savior, Redeemer, Deliverer. Through Jesus, we have direct access to the Father. His name is our covering, our invitation into grace.
Prayer & Action:
We are instructed to do all things—whether in word or deed—in His name. That means our lives reflect His character. His name is not a magic phrase; it is a surrendered heart aligned with His will.
I love the song “In the name of Jesus” by Katy Nichole. Many times in life we are faced with circumstances that we are unsure how to help or if we should help. The one thing we should know is it is always right to pray. Pray for people who are hurting. Pray for healing.
Sometimes folks need a change in their life—a job change, a move to someplace where they are needed. However, as silly humans, we often cannot see clearly what God is asking of us. Sometimes we are just terrified of the change and stay where we are, hoping God sends someone else. Sometimes God has to take you to the depths of your soul before you give in and cry out for His help and guidance.
Sometimes we cannot see ourselves the way others see us. We may think our little sin has no effect and therefore we can hold on to it for as long as we like. At that time, God just may put you on someone else’s heart, and they may carry your needs to heaven for you, knowing you are too weak in your heart to see what is truly happening. This is God’s divine love for us—that He will place our need on someone else’s heart to pray when we cannot pray clearly ourselves.
Sometimes all we can do is speak the name of Jesus over those folks.
Pray that God reminds them that only Satan speaks fear, hate, and worry. Pray that they remember Satan is a liar.
Here is the message loud and clear:
If we believe in our Triune God, and if we obey His simplest command—“Love one another as I have loved you”—then God opens the floodgates of life-changing blessing. The greatest blessing of all is having your name written in the Book of Everlasting Life.
If you have not begun your journey with God, please start today. All you have to do is ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, and for the Holy Spirit to abide in you, and to guide you toward His righteousness.
Start reading God’s Word and praying daily. Ask God to guide you to a church that loves people where they are and grows in God together.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the powerful name of Jesus. Thank You that His name carries authority, healing, salvation, and hope. Forgive us when we hesitate in fear or cling to sin that blinds us. Teach us to trust You fully. Help us to boldly speak the name of Jesus over our homes, our children, our struggles, and our future. Align our hearts with Your will so that when we pray in His name, we pray according to Your purpose. Write our names in Your Book of Life and help us to love one another as You have loved us. In Jesus' precious name we pray. Amen!
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.
BELIEVE.
OBEY.
BE BLESSED.
AMEN.
BOBBA 💛
Love, Penny
